Lvov Polytechnic Institute

Lvov Polytechnic National University is the oldest technical higher educational institution in Ukraine and East Europe. It was founded like Technical academy in 1844. University consist of 16 institutes, 113 departments; autonomous, additional and general subdivisions.

Technical Academy was the precursor of Lvov Polytechnic, established in 1844. It was one of the first technical schools in Europe and first in Ukraine. In 1877 the academy was renamed on High Polytechnic School and was included as higher technical educational institution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. That new academicals year was started in new building located on S. Bandery Str. Since 1921 to 1939 academicals institution was called Lvov Polytechnic. After Soviet Power in 1939 it was renamed on Lvov Polytechnic Institute. In June 1993, the year before its 150 anniversary, Lvov Polytechnic Institute get the highest IV accreditation level, university status and name “Lvov Polytechnic State University”. In 2000 Lvov Polytechnic got National University status. 8 July 2009 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on their meeting designated Lvov Polytechnic National University as a self-management research higher educational institution.

Since 1991 after Ukraine gained independence Lvov Polytechnic is actively developing international links with foreign universities, research institutions, companies and associations.

Integrated concluded Agreements with over 50 leading universities in Europe, America and Asia. It should be noted the close and fruitful relationships with the leading technical universities in Poland - Warsaw Polytechnic, Wroclaw, Rzeszow, Silesia, Krakow, Rzeszów, Czestochowa, Mining and Metallurgical Academy in Krakow. Working under these agreements is of a nature - held international conferences, published a joint publication, there is extensive exchange of teachers and students, Lvov Polytechnic was the basis for the establishment of closer ties between industrialists Ukraine and Poland.

Each year, more than 300 faculty and staff at Lvov Polytechnic vidryadzhuyutsya abroad for training, participation in conferences, joint international projects within the sports and cultural exchange. In turn, each year more than 400 representatives of foreign universities for this purpose visit Lvov Polytechnic. Major international associations and foundations regularly their regional workshops and presentations on the basis of our university.
